I use phproject and I can recommend that.

http://www.phproject.org/

I think there is a contrib with a not upgraded version.

You can download it from the homepage as well, but you will then have some problem with the document upload function.

The problem with the sme server is that it has a php security function that on the one side improves security, on the other side reduce flexibility for running different kind of application.

It possible to dissable this securityfunction or you will have the Phproject running with all functions except for the dokument upload.

By the way .. The SME 5.6 behaves a little bit different from the 6.0.1 .. If you install phproject as a subdirectory under the Primary ibay at a SME 5.6, all functions on the phproject will work without modifications, also the document upload.

I think Phproject is a very usable and dependable application.

This looks like just what I need.
In the next few days I plan to make some time to test it on my SME 6 development box.

There is also one other named dotproject. It has much the same functions as phproject. I have used the phproject for a long time and have never had problems. I have not tried the dotproject yet, but I think I will try it in a few days. The dotproject might look a little bit "modern", but phproject might still have the best functions. (Dont know yet).

I just installed and tested dotproject just now. I think that the menues and the look of dotproject is very good, and it apears with a "professional" look. The functions seems to be bether on the phproject. dotproject is slightely more diffecult to install, because of bether installation automation for the phproject. I will recomend to test them both, and then to start with the phproject that is the more easy one to install. Please leave a msg if any good or bad experiences. Wil check out the dotproject intallation the next days.

Best reg Arne.

Having now both phproject and dotproject running. My conclusions is still the same - dotproject is a very nice and "modern looking" system, while phproject does still have the best functions.

Please leave a message how things are going with the phpgroupware testing.

By the way, I have also one "cheared harddisk" application running that is named Owl. I can recomend that as well. It does not have the same functionalities at a traditional groupware, but it has some rather advanced and nice functions for document storing and document managenent.

http://owl.sourceforge.net/

My standard tools now today is phproject and Owl.

Have a look at Moregroupware.

www.moregroupware.org

I have used the 0.7.1 release some time ago, but had a problem with the projects page.  This appears to have been fixed with the 0.7.2 build.  Also,  the interface has been polished a bit more and is quite good.
