Topic: Howto's out of date?

Hello everyone, I am new to SME Server, only about 3 months now and am loving it.  I have noticed that several of the HOWTOs list older version of SME Server as thier compatabiltiy.  

How do I know that a HOWTO that says it's compatible with an older version is still valid?  

and is there any effort from the community to update HOWTO's to the current release?

If the Howto doesn't specify the release you are after, then there really isn't a way to say for sure if it's going to work or not.  My best suggestion would be to try it on a test box.  

If it works, great!!  Email the author and tell him/her that it works with version xxx.

If it doesn't, then try to update the howto if you can and email the author with the update.

That's how GPL works.
