Apache proxypass disadvantages (Part1)
« on: October 02, 2004, 01:31:12 AM »
Recently implemented proxypass and noticed that although is a nice tool, it also has disadvantages (well at least I found one and wanted to list it here to warn the other SME guys.

The problem I found was:
1. If you install proxypass and put a web based
application behind, it should use session variables rather than cookies for authentication, why?

For some reason I don´t know, apps using cookies based authentication don´t work. They accept the password, but the authentication simply doesn´t work.

After noticing that, asked the programmers to change the model to session variables authentication and voilá, it worked!. This case happened with an IIS server so I don't know if the same would happen with a PHP/Apache application, anyway you are warned.

Finally, is there other disadvantage you would want to mention?

Greetings
Alejandro
