Thanks to mbachmann who send me the translation of SMERPFax documentation.

For now, the documentation is available in french & english.
I'm looking for spanish translator  ;-)

You can find them at http://smerp.free.fr/download.html

I must admit that the english translation is a bit odd, because i have not understood everything in full detail - although i live together with a french woman. So if the english transl. is partly screwed - blame it on me.

Hi,

how can I use WHFC or another Hylafax-Client with this wonderful contrib?

We need a real "print client" because 90 % of our outgoing faxes are scanned -> print -> fax type.

When using the WHFC client 1.2x, it gives me user/password errors.

Would it be the opportunity to make a faxmaster group (instead of pseudo, what i did now) and attach the outgoing senders to it?

And: Excellent panel -again! This was the first time after about 4 years of "e-smithing" i got a real-life hylafax to work  8-)

I don't know well WHFC, but I think that certain problems can occur.
SMERPFax doesn't modify Hylafax, and doesn't change the way it works, but the mode of configuration is different.
Indeed, several files of configuration are modified by templates and inside panel.

It implies that the modifications brought by the users will not be saved into configuration files after a restart of the server, because in that case, these files will be dynamically generated by templates.

Except this problem, I think that the hylafax clients work normally with the contrib SMERPFax.

Let's try & enjoy...  ;-)

I have some modified scripts - based on this howto - http://www.hylafax.org/howto/clients/RelayFax.html - working here if you want them. It requires the use of procmail in geek mode to work.

No thanx - i tested Relayfax client. My users did not like it.

Also: There was a servere configuration problem with SMERP and also with the hylafax_install.sh from knuddi:

No user-access possible...; i had to add username::: manually for every active user to /var/spool/hylafax/etc/hosts.hfd (as far as i remember now) - i am still testing the stuff.

Modified to remove the mail to fax gateway feature.
Geek mode to prevent the .procmailrc file from being over written when users are updated.

Thanks for the scripts!

But what do you mean "to remove the mail to fax gateway feature"?

I already used the scripts i got from Chaloner Hale, but they had som issues (couldn't read .faxitrc), got that fixed but then they generated 2 jobs each time. Yours seems to work fine.

The geek mode trick is good, i had trouble with there too :-)

The best W2K / XP client I've seen
« Reply #25 on: October 13, 2004, 01:12:16 AM »
Hey folks,

The best client I've seen for Hylafax is  Hylafsp.  It does cost some money but it is the sweetest one I've found that works like it's suppose to, has coverpage selection built in and does multi number faxing (I think).  For the $20-25 dollars or less ifyou buy in bulk, it's well worth it.

The link is  http://www.ifax.com/HylaFSP/      They also have a 30 day trial version.

Thanks,

Craig

P.S.  I'm in no way, shape or form associated with IFax.  Just liked the product after having tried most of the others and not been happy because they didn't meet my clients requirements.
