Topic: Appying updates?

Hi all,

Being a relative noob (but experienced Network Engineer), I would like some info on how SME is configured, and more importantly what will happen if I try to apply the following updates.

I installed Knuddi's OpenSSL 0.9.6m update a few months ago. I would like to know what will happen if I apply the OpenSSL update 0.9.7e from SourceForge? That is, does SME require it's own RPM for this?

I understand that SME and Apache are inextricably linked and that there are some SME quirks - is this correct? So, I assume that the Apache 1.3.33 update will need to be customised for SME?

I like to keep my system right up to date to combat security issues (call me paranoid!).
