The problem exists with 6.01, 6.01.01, and 5.6u NOT 5.5. Problem is reproducable. When installing sme as dedicated ( + private ) server + gateway :
1) with external connection pppoe - all is ok
2) with dedicated external ip, the server can no more be seen on the local network ( cannot ping )
Let me describe in detail :
For the local network I use fixed ip
1) When setting up with 5.6u, I can access the internet from the control panel, but cannot ping the sme. Exchange of ethernet cables and different allocations of the 2 different nic's gives the same result ==> hardware is ok
2) when setting up the sme with external network pppoE, I can from the local network ping the sme
3) when setting up the sme with server-only mode I can ping the sme.
4) when changing external network setting from pppoe to fixed ip, can no more ping the server. I give the external network card a fixed ip ( 192.168.0.21/255.255.255.0), and define as gateway 192.168.0.20/255.255.255.0. This works well under sme5.5 but not under higher version.
5) for the sme5.5 is running on an old P1. The tests with the sme5.6/6.0x were done on a P4.
Above was reproduced several times. Bug ?
