Why is there no place for a email address or phone number? Is there a way to edit the contact form to add what ever you want? It seems to me at the present, its not very helpful.

Thanks in advance for your reply,

Kip

It's simply intended to store e-mail addresses, that's it.  To add more would require fairly substantial changes to IMP, which would be pointless because the current development version has radically changed the structure to include this information.  There definitely is a place for e-mail addresses, though.

Hmm. Maybe I have a old version. All I see is 1:address  2:Nickname  3: full name.
and I dont see a place for email address.

"address" would be the e-mail address...

Hi DAn,

just been on your site and noticed you are running IMP 2.3. How are you finding it ?
If it's stable, any chance of a how-to on upgrading as some of its features (such as adding contacts from an e-mail) would be handy.

Regards and cheers for your previous excellent how-tos

2.3 is very stable as far as crashing is concerned, and pretty good as far as errors go (which is to say that there aren't many, but I've been having a problem dealing with folders for a while now).  However, it's still in fairly early development--some things change fairly unpredictably.

Installation is definitely a non-trivial exercise--you need the latest PHP, you need a very recent PEAR (though I understand that the very latest versions of this break with the latest released PHP), you need to get the latest horde and IMP via CVS, and you need to walk through all the config files and make appropriate edits manually.

I wouldn't say a definite no to a howto, but probably not at this time due to the complexity and the frequent changes--makes it difficult to support.  The above should get you started, though, if you want to take a stab at it.  Thanks for the kind words on the other documents!
