Emergency boot disk / 6.01 upgrade rather than install ?
« on: November 29, 2004, 02:29:41 AM »
Couple of quickies.

Have searched hi and low but cannot remember how to create an emergency boot disk - my current one is dead when I tested it.

I can see the scripts for creating a re-installation disk but not the original boot disk that you can create during installation.

Second, I have a V6 installation and thought rather than download the patches I would just download the V6.01 image and run it as an upgrade. Except I can't see that you have this option. Does it exist ?

Thanks Trevor - I saw that. However from what I read this disk is for a re-installation rather than just a boot disk. It includes all the config stuff.

Is it the same as the disk created on install ? Can it be used as a plain boot disk ?

As far as i remember, it has settings and users, but no data.
It can not work as an emergency bootdisk.

But try it out....

Thanks for the help - I'll give it a go.

If I get stuck I may try and a vanilla install on a test box and make a new disk.
