How Secure is SME's Firewall ?

How secure is SME's firewall feature ??  Currently my SME server is behind another firewall box running Smoothwall. SME and Smoothwall both seem to use IPtables.. Am I just duplicating efforts by having the other Smoothwall box ? Besides the obvious "its better to have a seperate firewall" answer, I would like to have less boxes running......''

P.S I work in this industry supporting NT servers and have always run them at the house too. Since finding SME Server I dumped my NT server... SME Rocks..Told my friends about it too !!! This OS could take a bite out of M$...

Practice proves that the SME Server is safe enough to use as a server-gateway for many years.

i had the smoothwall, and mailserver on a Xp machine (just the setup at the time), but after switching to SME, i dont find the smoothwall necessairy any more.. (even though dob. protection, and NAT, allways is more secure)

every firewall is as secure as the admin.
if you do not open any ports, the SME firewall will fit all requirements.
