Hi folks,
I've just installed SME Server 6.0 and I can say I am really impressed with it.
However, I appear to be having a problem with getting my Windows XP Pro machine to attach to the domain.
I've setup the domain on the SME server, and then I add the machine to the domain. It says welcome to the domain, and asks me to reboot.
When it comes to logging in after a reboot, I enter the username and password which I setup on the web interface and select the domain rather than the local PC, but then it reports about a missing computer account?
I've tried logging in as root, creating a group (6001) for local machines, tried adding a user and then running the smbpasswd command, but it still won't let me login to the domain.
Here are the commands I used to create the machine account:
useradd myxppc$ -g 6001 -G winhosts -d /dev/null -c myxppc -s /bin/false
smbpasswd -a -m myxppc
Could anyone shed an light on this problem? Should I try upgrading Samba to version 3?
Regards,
Rob
