SMTP archiving/copying and fetchmail polling durations...
« on: January 04, 2005, 12:50:14 PM »
hey there,
I have 2 questions, I am fairly new to SME server but I am getting a hang of things, first off I am running version 6.01-01...

1) how do I make it to that all outgoing emails are copied to specified mail accounts on the server (ie. more than 1). I saw a tutorial for a single account but I need to be able to sent them to numerous accounts...

2) Is there any way of decreasing the scheduling of the multi-drop feature, and all other modules that make use of fetchmail, currently the shortest polling duration is 15 minutes, I would like to reduce this to 1 or 2 minutes, is this possible?

Thanks for your help in advance :)

Create a group containing the numerous accounts. Then change the single account receiving archive emails to the name of the group.

Don't use multi-drop unless it's absolutely unavoidable. It seems that you want mail to arrive as soon as possible - SMTP delivery will do just that.

Sorry, let me clarify this, I am not using multidrop, but I am using another POP3 retreival contrib that utilizes fetchmail(http://www.schirrms.net/sme/SMEFetchMail.php) and I would like to minimise the poll duration, to around 1 - 2 minutes, is this possible

Dear Davehole:

Where did you find your instructions on howto make all outgoing emails copied to a specified mail account on th eserver?  You mention you saw a tutorial.

I am interested in doing the same thing, but can't find the tutorial you mentioned.

Thanks

Thank you for the link.  I was able to get a copy of every email.

The problem now is that I capture over 250 emails in 4 hours.  I have a number of accounts that I killed because of spam.  Spammers are still mailing messages to these deleted accounts and I don't see them.  But, this logging copied all these spam messages that were attempted to these deleted accounts.

I have turn off the loggin for now, but is there a way to only log the outgoing messages? Or only log messages sent to certin account?
