Is there such a thing as a text editor in SME V5?

Im looking to modify the templates that SME uses, but i need a texte editor. What do you guy's suggest?

Hey ! while im here!  Do you know what i need to modify to execute cgi and pl scripts inside the Primary....

Do i need to modify httpd.conf ????

    I am no expert but the Midnight Commander program works for me. Type mc at prompt# to start program
Navigate to file location. f3 key will let you view the file in read only mode. f4 key will let you view the file in the write mode.

Sorry, not off the top of my head. Not something I've personally done. I normally create i-bays (and virtual domains if that is appropriate) and put executables there. Much less hassle for me. However, if you search the forums, putting executables in primary has been discussed and I believe resolved a few times already.
