Cron Deamon ?!?!
« on: October 05, 2001, 06:18:27 PM »
Hello,

I experience some problems with my E-smith 4.1.2 version since 2 days now. I, as admin, recieve emails like this:

* Cron    /usr/bin/meminfo.pl
ERROR: illegal attempt to update using time 1002281466 when last update time is 1002281466 (minimum one second step)

* Cron    /usr/bin/cpuinfo.pl
ERROR: could not lock RRD

* Cron    /usr/bin/netinfo.pl
ERROR: could not lock RRD

I tried rebooting, but the problem is still here. In a day, I recieve about 200 of these mails (all together). What is the problem, or even better: how can it be fixed?

I am using e-smith for quite a few months now, and I've never seen this problem before!

Thanks very much in advance!

This problem is due to a bug in an older version of the E-Smith monitor.  To fix, either upgrade to the newer version, or remove it.

Hi Wietse,

  As you have been allreday told this is a known issue in older versions of e-smith monitor. Please, upgrade to version 2.0-01 that was done especially to solve this.

  BTW, this is due to heavy load in your server :) true?

Ehmmm, yeah, I will upgrade to that version (maybe I will even upgrade the whole E-smith system to 5.0)... but the thing is, this is a problem I've never seen before! The monitor worked fine, but since a few days I get these weird error messages...

The HDD in it isn't even half-full! Next to that, it never had any problems. Somehow, even though I can't connect to it (it says the network is busy!?!!?) but the gateway to internet is working perfectly! Login in through FTP is also OK.

I don't understand this at all!

I read that the upgrade to 5.0 should run smoothly, but I am not sure that all the information in the i-bays will be safe. So... I think I will download all the info through FTP, and then upgrade to 5.0. Maybe even format to make sure no problems will occur......
