Kernel paninc - new install can't run
« on: January 31, 2005, 09:39:14 AM »
As I watch my topic being relegated to the 3rd page on the general discussion  forum without any helping response I thought I would re-state my problem among the experts.

I really would like to get SME running but I get a kernel panic when I boot up the server. (I have checked the ISO image MD5 - several successful burns tried, all with the same problem.)

BTW Linux sleuth live CD (Knoppix) runs OK and I can install and run Ubuntu on the box.

For details of my problem please see the original post:

Also: Ubuntu has a really nice feature: during the install it is possible to run a verify installation disk feature. It will then do a md5sum of all packages against an installation database on the CD. Really nifty as it tells you which, if any of your packages got damaged during the burn process.

Kind regards

Chris Laurie
