Quake and e-smith
« on: October 09, 2001, 07:14:24 PM »
Hi,

Im running e-smith 4.1.1 and have setup a wired and wireless lan using e-smith as a router between the wireless and wired networks.

wireless lan (eth1) >>> E-smith << Wired lan (eth0)
                                     ^^^
                         56k modem (ppp0)

Im trying to run Quake bettween the two networks.. Quake runs fine between boxes on the wireless and wired networks but e-smith will not route packets from and to the wireless and wired networks.

Any help would be great :D

Thanx, Mick

Quake runs fine between wireless boxes and wired boxes but will "not" route between the two networks. :D

Hi MetalMick

you need to install the portforwarding rpm from the contributed rpms and set the ports up to the required machine.

BEst of luck

Hi Enigma,

Thanx for the reply

I can't using use the portforwarding rpm because i have 3 boxes on the wireless network and 2 boxes on the wired network that i wish to connected together.

If i use portforwarding this will only work between say one wireless box to a wired box. I want to setup all 5 boxes.

Setting up IP Masquerade to allow port 26000 is what i need to setup.

I tryed loging into a Quake server via the net with no luck.

I have a couple:

1     If security is not a concern setup e-smith as server only, this way all traffic comes in and out of your LAN, downside is there is no firewall!

2     Run a dedicated quake server behind the e-smith, and connect to this (port fprwarding to main Q-server

after that - its beyond my expereince to offer any advice

Hope this is of some small help
