Trash folder on 6.01 ?
« on: February 15, 2005, 12:59:39 AM »
I've noticed that four SME 6.0 machines have trash folders in the user's Maildir directory but our single SME 6.01 machine does not.
Is this intentional ? Is trash mail handled differently on 6.01 or (more likely) have I done something different with these accounts ? If so, how is the Trash folder created ?

Well Stuart, if it's hidden then its even hidden from root using "ls -al" in the directory /home/e-smith/files/users/USERNAME/Maildir

On this system from a freshly created user, ls -la gives:
drwxr-xr-x    6 gtb      gtb          4096 Nov 26 14:26 .
drwx------    4 gtb      gtb          4096 Dec 20 19:02 ..
drwxr-xr-x    2 gtb      gtb          4096 Nov 26 14:26 cur
drwxr-xr-x    5 gtb      gtb          4096 Nov 26 14:26 ;junkmail
drwxr-xr-x    2 gtb      gtb          4096 Nov 26 14:26 new
drwxr-xr-x    2 gtb      gtb          4096 Nov 26 14:26 tmp

If you use webmail, goto options, deleting and moving messages.  You should be able to figure it out from there.

Trash folder on 6.01 ?

Thanks for reply but that's not it.
In options I tick "When deleting messages, move them to your Trash folder instead of marking them as deleted." and the pull-down box below that says "Create a new Trash Folder" but other that clicking "Save Options" I can't see any way of creating a Trash folder. Clicking "Save Options" doesn't create it. I'm using Mozilla 1.6 on SuSE 9.1. Do you have different options under IE ?

Did you actually try to delete a message to test this?

I just set this up and it does work.  When you go into options, deleting and moving messages, click the tick, then save, you are correct nothing is created.
But, when you actually delete your first message, you should see a message saying that a trash folder was completed successfully.  If you check that folder, you should see your deleted mail item.

I am using horde 2.2.7 and imp 3.2.7 on my system.
