Chris,

Cool 8-)   I just got an SC420 yesterday.  I should have time later this week to do some testing.

BTW: I think there may be a problem with your directory being displayed in the contribs area.  I don't see it, but typically, it would be
http://mirror.contribs.org/smeserver/contribs/ckearns/

You can see the others here
http://mirror.contribs.org/smeserver/contribs/

Thanks for posting everything.  Hope I can get into your FTP dir to do some testing.

Well, I'm not making much progress. I can see the ckearns directory now, but none of the files I uploaded are there! And to make matters worse, my username/password combination does not work anymore, so I can reload them.

I've sent a request for help email, so as soon as I'm sorted I'll let you know.

I can see 4 files (& download) in
http://mirror.contribs.org/smeserver/contribs/index.php?subdir=ckearns&sortby=name

but your user folder does not exist at
ftp://ftp.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/smeserver/contribs/

It looks to me like ibiblio is not being rsync'd from contribs.org any more.

You need to check the Kuadra SME Server.

I have finally managed to grab some time to add to this thread. I have gotten the SME Server 6.01 to load AND restart on a Dell PE420SC with dual SATA drives. The problem reported earlier was with the standard 6.01 mkinitrd. I upgraded it to version 4.2.9-1 (mkinitrd-4.2.9-1sn.i386.rpm), and it successfully creates the initrd with sata modules included.

In order for the installation to see the SATA drives to begin with, I had to use the 7.0Alpha boot code, and replace the standard (6.01-01) boot directories on the ISO CD. I also base my SME installations on AjKeanes 6.01-01-custom.iso. I have placed a modified version of this custom ISO in my contribs area (http://mirror.contribs.org/smeserver/contribs/ckearns/), for anyone who is interested. The iso is called smeserver-6.01-01custom-sn.iso

The only differences in terms of rpms between my -sn.iso and the AjKeanes custom iso is the kernel (2.4.20-31.9 versus 2.4.20-18.7) and mkinitrd (4.2.9-1 versus 3.3.10-1). I have only added the i686 kernels, as I have only tested on PE420Scs. I will place the src RPM there when I get a chance.

This ISO has been in production on a number of customer sites since early March, and is very stable.

Hi Chris,
Can you please confirm that PPTP works with the kernal on your modified iso.

Thanks

Shane

Hello Shane,

No, I can't confirm that PPTPD will work, as I never use it. I only use OpenSSL for VPN access.

I have copied the ppp and ppp-modules - compiled for the new kernel - to my contribs area. If you want, you can replace the old ppp with these on the ISO, and check if pptpd works.

Please let me know you results,
