How do you block or delete jpeg files in e-mails
« on: February 23, 2005, 02:24:06 AM »
Does anyone know how to block or delete jpeg files form mail before it gets to the person.

We are getting a few spam e-mail ... quite smart the way they have done these ... email content is just a harmless story but jpeg's are quite nasty.

So what I would like to do is have spammassassin delete the jpeg or block the url location in the e-mail but still send the rest of the mail through. The reason for this is not all e-mail with pic's are spam. This way people would have to zip the jpeg's up to be able to send them to us.

Does anyone know how to do this.

I know that you can set outlook to only view mail in text mode (2002 and up)... but the url link is still there.

Regards,

Tib

You want to try the Ray Mitchell and Gordon Rowell's pattern matching contrib, it's explained in there how to add and block certain patterns. How the jpeg pattern is like you have to find out yourself, but this is a start:

Hello mbachmann

This looks sort off like what I'm looking for ... it won't strip the jpeg file but I guess a block is just as good.

I will run it through my test server and see what happens.

Thanks
