New Production Server

I have to install a new sme production server this week. If I am to heed the warnings I should not use the rurrent SME 6.5 RC1 release. However if I install SME 6.0.1 will I be able to upgrade cleanly to SME 6.5 when it is finally completed. I realise this was always possible before, will it be the same with 6.5 or will it require a complete re-install. We intend to use very few contribs mainly Jespers Antivirus script to install clam. Anyone any ideas or advice?

Regards

Hi Jack,
It depends whether you need to use the features that "bleeding edge" gives you against the pain of shaking the bugs out.
For now, assume that there will be an upgrade choice but decide whether what's in 6.01 fits your needs. It will be supported for quite some time to come for security issues etc..(look at how many 5.6 machines are still supported).
Most long term SME users I've spoken to are happy to keep rolling out 6.01 (or 6.0!).

Thanks for the reply Damian.

I eventually went with SME 6.0.1 option and so far all's well.
