As soon as I saw you post I thought about that thread, but reread your post and thought he must be after the

newest"

and that wouldn't be the newest, seeing as I haven't looked at it.

I'll start posting first and asking questions later  :-P

If you want a turn key solution full stop then you cant go past something like this.

Gateway
IPSec and pptp vpn
Inbound outbound QOS
Voip with FXS and FXO ports - SIP.
Voicemail with mail notification

And it will cost less than building the same from scratch with *

Duncan,
These are great products, and coming from you I'm sure they'll be awesome. But where can I get the prices, and buy them?

Thanks,
Franco

Those devices over *?  Is it as powerfull, flexible or scaleable?

Seems like a good option for a home turn-key solution, have you had a play with them?

I'm in Brazil, South America right now. I keep myself back and forth between here and Italy.
Will it be difficult for me to get them in these places?

Not sure - I guess you will be able to find them somewhere on the net.

For any Aussies - the local guy is Netopt - does some nice load balancing gear as well.

Man, similar devices are popping up all over the place in Aus now...  Draytek, Linksys and more offer the same sort of hardware.

I have considered this for an upcoming, medium sized VoIP rollout.  Asterisk is just a bit more flexible and scaleable though...

 :-) I would debate that.

We are currently looking at an Alcatel solution that as well as being an Voip enabled pabx - takes on the role of file-mail and intranet/internet server.

As RequestedDeletion said, SME or linux would do this also as you know.  I guess it comes down to vendor support, and being a turn-key solution, which linux and SME clearly are not.

Did you follow the order of zaptel -> libpri -> asterisk?  Sounds like asterisk is looking for libpri and zaptel and they're not there...

I have heard that there are issues with asterisk and scsi.  Once moved from a raid drive to a striaght IDE single HDD it worked fine.

Duncan,
I am in Peru, if you need an Asterisk box, we could
arrange something to send it preconfigured.
