I was hoping to get some feed back on website/directory permissions.
At issue is my new install of SME 6.5rc1, the software that I will be using for my website is Xoops. The site that is getting moved is on phpWebsite currently.
After running the installer for Xoops, and getting the test site up and running, the permissions seem a little to "open". Xoops requires 3 directories to be 777, I have found that i can run them as low as 775, and still have a functioning site. Okay, so far. The file permissions is what seems a little to generous, the site won't function on less than 750. I can't come to grips with this being secure, although it may be, which is why I am loking for others input!
Also, the ownership is admin:www currently, with the setting for the ibay to Group=admin, Write=admin, Read=group. Public access=internet no password. And FTP is disabled on this server.
The site is not open to the public, yet. I am in the debug, testing stages right now.
