Well, I´m from Spain and this is the first time that i post here in this forum.
In my Insitute, one teacher gived to me a work. That work was install SME server in the main building of the institute to manage the LAN and the POP3 counts, webpage, etc..
You noticed at this time my poor english, well excuse me, please.
I need a "step by step" guide to install the SME in the institute´s server, because when I installed the SME three days ago, I can´t find the graphic mode to configure the SME server, only a ugly one, in text mode, with a lot ot options. I see the screenshots of E-Smith in this page and I say "What a cool enviroment!" but I saw three days ago the text-mode of my first instalation and I said "What a ugly enviroment!"

What i did brong?

Thanks a lot for read this post, and one more time, excuse my poor english!

in a web browser, go to http://yourserver/server-manager.

Log in with your admin account, and you will have access to the configurations you require.

Hello, i'm from portugal, and i have a sme server.
Now is configured to server only, but i want to change
to server and gateway.
I have a broadband adsl router (192.168.1.1) but i don´t now if sme works in server and gateway mode with adsl line. I tried many ways (Send client address,DHCP, PPPoE) and i can´t get a good configuration.
Anybody now how to configure SME to server and gateway with a broadband adsl router.

Note: My isp provides dynamic ip, my public ip change hourly.

Hi there,

I agree with Ray here, I don't think you'll find someone that will reinvent the wheel for you by re-writing the manual. The existing manual is pretty extensive and should help you greatly in getting your SME box up and running. By all mean post back here if you are having further issues though.

Hi SuperLopez,

it's OK to be a total newbie. I'm still one after 3 years, cause I'm not interested in spending a lot of my time administrating a non critical server.

I started out with a short article from PCWorld.dk (in my native language) and was up and running in a few hours. The Esmith / SME documentation is great but if your English or French is a little 'rusty', you will surely be able to find an article or review in Spanish that will get you going.

Good luck
