Topic: using esmith server as a POP3 ??

I've got my 4.1 server sitting behind a firewall/gateway box.  I'd like to be able to access my mail accounts from an external connection without going througn webmail.

Probably simple and stupid by my brains fried at this point ( .

Open up port 110 (pop3) and port 25 (smtp)

I am in a similar psoition to you and this is how i have overcome the issue.

forward port 110 from the firewall to the ip address of the e-smith box, however, DO NOT FORWARD port 25 (smtp) to the e-smith box from the firewall as this may turn you into an OPEN RELAY box and cause you no end if grief, lest of which will be mail from your domain being rejected by other mail servers

Thanks, I knew it would be simple but was worried about opening the smpt port  as a spam relay.
