Topic: 2 servers 1 handling email multidrop 1 antivirus HELP

help.
We have 1 sme running as our main server currently.
Multipdrop from our isp and everything running great.

I want to add a 2nd sme to handle the incoming email for spamassasin and clamav and THEN the primary sme will grab multidrop from THAT clamav sme server.  
I hope that makes sense.  I know you're wondering why???

Well, (no comments here please), our main is a customized sme 5.1.2....I know I know).

So, either someone has a way to get latest spamassin + clamav w/updates on 5.1.2 (nice and simple script like what is avail for 6.0+), OR please help with using a new secondary 6.5 rcxxx as the email handling spamassin/clamav scanning server BUT the 5.1.2 still hanldes all users email once they are "cleaned" through the secondary.

Again, we are in a multidrop situation from an outside ISP email server and odn't plan on changing that part.

Any help is GREATLY appreciated.

No comments please - I think comments are the first place to start. Apart from being insecure (for which I assume you have updated all rpms that need updating !!??) why can't you upgrade, to 5.5, then 5.6 then 6.0 (then 6.5 if you must).

You will get all the functionality you want in one box. Of course some popular contribs may need to be upgraded along the way, but they are all available.

What customisation have you done that I guess makes you feel upgrading is not possible ?

You should avoid multidrop if at all possible.

You certainly don't need to have two hops of multidrop. Multidrop from your ISP to your scanning server, then configure your scanning server to use your real server as the "Delegate Mail Server". Mail will be delivered to it via SMTP.

Thanx for the replies.
As for upgrading, I thought upgrading from 5.1.2 to anything would not be a smart idea and start from scratch would be best...which I believe to be the case in most scenarios.  And which I plan on doing once this interim solution is done..that's the key.  This is just to get things in place so I have no downtime getting our crap migrated.  I took over this install as a new worker so that may help in understanding my plight.

Anyway, thanx.  I'll give the 1 hop multidrop to smtp delegate a try.  

but wait, if I do that, won't I need to have identical users setup on BOTH servers?
