hi there,

i just installed SME server,
and now i'm willing to try, to partion the harddisk.
i did serverall atempts, but all failed.

one of those was just simply typing cfdisk /dev/hda in the linux box.
but that gave me an error that it couldn't be reached.

can anyone help me, starting up fdisk?

thanks in advance,

Thijs

Are you trying to partion this primary HD? In which case I believe that SME takes over the whole disk. If your trying to add a second then you can use the fdisk command and then use n to create a new partion and p to make it a primary partion, then assign a partion number and press w to make the changes. Full details are given in the man page by typing man fdisk

no, not exactly,

i'm trying to split a partion, the '/' partition, which is around 40gigs.

but i dont'want to lose the SME files on it.

figured it partly out.
using RPM (partition resizer), create a boot diskette, and then split that partion.
install a boot mngr, and ready for the next OS to be installed

but i'm a complete noob, can't even find how to create a bootdiskette for RPM

edit//
just tried to start RPM. it gave me an error, which keeps me stuck for now:
Code: [Select]
overlapping partition found on 2 and 3.
SME created overlapping partitions, (and a rather strange cycle byte value: 1342 instead of the usual 1024kb)
how can i reset this, and get lost of the overlapping partitions.
if i need to format my hdd (again), i wouldn't care. haven't got anything special on it for now.
