911 Backup Issue
« on: April 15, 2005, 10:38:17 PM »
Hi there,

Apologies if this has been asked, have done some searching and couldn't see nything related.

I have installed Darrel May's contrib backup2ws and have set up a 911 Disaster Recovery backup and performed it. It does not seem to mail admin upon backup completion of a 911 job which makes me think it's incomplete. Upon looking at the log files, it appears that it HAS indeed backup up all that it said it would and upon investigating the backup RAR in WinRAR the files DO seem to be there.

All other backup jobs send report when finished backing up except 911 jobs

Has anyone else come across this problem before?

Thanks,

Arthur

Uninstall the contrib, delete the db configs for backup2ws and reinstall. Also try the sme forums at http://myezserver.com/phpBB2/

Thanks Ray,

Come up against another problem but was to do with permissions and being a member of a domain and managed to sort it (the message log is my friend :-)).

Thanks for helping me out, much appreciated.

Funny thing Arthur, I'm just experiencing this on another server I look after, but my own server is working fine.

Could you elaborate on what your problem was and the fix ?
Thanks

Hi Ray,

Seems a bit hit or miss, can't think why.

Permissions thing :

Backup worked fine when I logged onto my machine and SME box was only a workgroup machine but when I switched it over to a PDC the user that I thought had all rights on my Windows box didn't have access to where I wanted to store the backups. I checked over the 'message' log and it wasn't able to mount using smbmount, access denied would show up.

What I did was set the  the permissions correctly for the local user and added the domain user with correct permissions on my actual desktop machine and viola, it started working.

I needed to get the backup working at least as I have actually started using this to host my domain and also to manage my small home network.

Still need to get sysmon working now which also seems a bit hit and miss, worked, didn't work, worked and then didn't again. Maybe you could lend a hand here too? http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?topic=27167.0

Cheers,

Arthur

Darrell has issued an updated rpm that appears to fix the 911 email report problem.

Cheers Ray, nice to know someone is looking after me  ;-)

Doesn't seem to be in his contrib folder, do you know where I can get it?

Arthur

Ray,

Could it have been possible that I may have been looking in a different place from you? http://mirror.contribs.org/smeserver/contribs/dmay/smeserver/6.x/contrib/backup2ws/

I go to contribs section, scroll to bottom and use the very last link on the page to get my contribs and ibiblio has not yet been updated.

This was my fault for not looking properly, my apologies.

You obviously were looking in a different place, it's just that the place had not synchronised with  contribs.org, and as of today 7th May 9am (Sydney) it still has not synchronised !

This was my fault....

No ones fault, just needed to look somewhere else.
