Just thrown a Freecom TapeWare AIT-460i ATAPI tape drive into my ageing server.
http://www.freecom.com/ecProduct_detail.asp?ID=1725&nr=23898&prodn=Freecom+TapeWare+AIT%2D460i+ATAPIIt doesn't get recognised by the BIOS, although I am not sure if that is the problem.
I have looked through various FAQs & posts but can't see anything particularly helpful.
Drives :
hda & hdc - 80Gb hard drives mirrored
hdb - tape
hdd - cd
Added append = "hdb=ide-scsi" to lilo.conf, ran lilo & rebooted but cat /proc/scsi/scsi still reports no devices.
In a bizarre twist of fate, if I rmmod ide-scsi and ide-cdrom and then modprobe ide-scsi, cat /proc/scsi/scsi reports :
[root@esmith etc]# cat /proc/scsi/scsi Attached devices:
Host: scsi0 Channel: 00 Id: 00 Lun: 00
Vendor: SAMSUNG Model: CD-ROM SC-140B Rev: BS12
Type: CD-ROM ANSI SCSI revision: 02
It didn't do this directly after booting though. Is the CD overruling the tape ?
Anyone got any bright ideas cos I'm stuck ! Could it be that the motherboard is too ancient to deal with it (it does manage to support a couple of new 80Gb drives though) or is there something I have missed ?
