I have a Compaq DDS3 Autoloader unit which bears a label "Compaq 15/30 GB DLT". It is not in the list of supported scsi tape units.
I have a laptop running suse 9.2 which can operate the tape drive unit. I suppose ya'll know what the question is? Is it possible to alter flexbackup to point to the device on the laptop? It uses /dev/st0 on the laptop. If it is possible can anyone give me some pointers?

Just to clarify, the autoloader is connected to the laptop and you would like your e-smith box to control the tape drive? Never tried it before but maybe something like:
#mount suse_laptop:/dev/st0 /dev/nst0
from the e-smith box??

Yes the device is connected to the laptop. Your suggestion raises two questions tho'. The message log say:
/dev/st0: No such device
Flexbackup.conf is pointing to the same device mention /dev/nst0. Is this a link to the device /dev/st0?
Can I alter the flexbackup job to point to the laptop:/dev/st0?
