Polycom Webcams and various sites

Hi All

I currently have two polycom (Via Video 2) web cameras both attached to workstations by USB ports, on the internal network (Private IP's) behind SME Gateway/Servers. They are located in different offices and the owners of these offices want to arrange video conferences between themselves and others. I have tried port forwarding from the gateway to the internal ip of the machines hosting the cameras but can not get a connection. A pptp connection was my next option but the users of these cameras are not exactly literate. Also some of the others participants do not have a SME box. Has anyone else setup a similar structure that may be able to give me a clue on solving this problem.
Hope this all makes sense.

Good Afternoon,

I have setup PolyCom units behind SME boxes before but they were the networkable kind. I don't believe that you will be able to setup units that are attached via USB. I was successuful in port forwarding the necessary ports for the network versions.

If it is a software package of some kind that you use to interface with the USB device, determine what ports it is attempting to talk on and open those up. There are three or four with the network versions which cover both TCP and UDP. I don't remember the port numbers as it has been quite awhile since the units were used. I hope this helps.
