SME Server 6.5rc1 and sil 0680 Raid card
« on: June 02, 2005, 11:29:23 AM »
I have installed a ST Lab PCI IDE Raid card installed with 2 Westan Digital 80Gb hard 8Mb cache. (drives Both Set as Masters)
Computer on boot up shows the card as (see below)

Sil 0680 ATA/133 Melody RAID Controller BIOS Version 3.2.04
Copyright (C) 1997-2002 Silicon Image, Inc

Press F3  to entre RAID utility

I press F3 and configure the 2 hard drives all goes OK and have approx 150Gb drive.

Start SME  install all runs ok and create rescue disk ok  with no apparent error messages.

On the reboot it goes as far as LI and halts. I use the rescue disk and sme starts up ok.
I login as root and do a df -h and it has only installed to 1 hard drive /dev/hde and look straight thought the preconfigured raid i did before.

Can any body help me PLEASE or is this a SME 6.5Rc1 bug needing to be fixed

Thanks
hope i posted in the right forum

This has happened to me before - check the hardware compatibility lists for RH 7.3 to see if your RAID card has Linux drivers/support for it.

I'm assuming you configured the RAID as mirrored and then performed a "single disk install" with SME?
