Administration Access Success and Failure

I am setting up SME 6.5RC1 as a stand alone behind IPCop on a DSL connection. I am primarily using it for email services.

I have delegated browser administration rights to a local machine. I have port forwarding set on IPCop for my SME server to handle external SMTP, POP3 rquests, etc. I run into a problem as soon as I port forward HTTPS port 443 requests for webmail to the server though. External users can access webmail properly but I immediately lose access to SME's administration functions from the local machine I've delegated to perform that function. I can access the SME machine and I get the certificate notice but I then get then forbidden notification page rather than the login screen. If I disable IPCop's external port forwarding for port 443 requests to SME, the admin login screen, once again, becomes available. I am not losing access to the server but I am losing the administration rights access. Any ideas why this is happening and how I can correct it?
