You may need to restart everything to get it to show up.
The easyway is to add the following to a logon script which is run on every W2K or WXP computer ...
%windir%\system32\ipconfig.exe /flushdns
%windir%\system32\ipconfig.exe /registerdns
There is no need to run this at every logon, just once on each workstation.
Also, if you are using WINS then the WINS server will need to be stopped, its cache flushed and then restarted. WINS is sometimes used by Windows 98 and is not needed for a LAN to work properly. Its been superceded in Windows 2000 and above by DNS, although there is still support for it.
If you used the console to change the servername in SME it should have gone through correctly. Are you using SME as your DNS server for the clients?
