squid cache problem with squidguard installed

Hello all
I wonder if anyone could offer some advice on the following:

I have sme 6.5 RC1 (says 6.6?) with squidguard installed for content filtering, which works fine.  I have also installed the squid cache manager to enable me to flush the cache from server-manager.  Inspite of being pretty much a linux n00b I've managed to use the command line 'restart squid with a clean cache' method too, although I assume they do pretty much the same thing.

My problem is that nothing I do seems to *actually* clear the cache.  I'm updating externally hosted websites and can't view the changes even after clearing local machine browser cache and clearing squid cache.  After a few days I seem to get an updated version, but obviously this isn't much use for testing external site changes. This doesn't seem to happen when using an sme server without squidguard content filtering installed as the gateway, when a simple page refresh brings me the new version in ....

I've searched the site and can't seem to find anything - any help would be greatly appreciated - thanks.

If using IE, use shift + F5 to tell squid to update the cached page.  Or you can make ACL's for the sites you manage to bypass squid.
