Can't connect to my rogers cable isp
« on: June 16, 2005, 06:35:28 PM »
Hello All!!!
Hope someone can help...

I have installed 6.5 works fine at home with ppoe, but at my office I have a cable internet from Rogers.  Rogers support said that i should use DHCP, and that there is nothing else, no password or connection information. So I did that and I cannot connect to the internet, I seem to be getting the error mesg of "timed out waiting for a valid DHCP server response".  Any one out there connected to rogers already?

Any help would be great

Thanks Mike

I have been using SHAW with SME for years.  Only ran into problems a couple of times, but what I found to work was to shut down the server, Disconnect the power to the cable modem.  Let the modem sit for a minute or more.  Power up the modem and wait for the power up sequence to finish and then power up the server.  When the server is up, login to the terminal as ADMIN with your password and use the check internet connection option.

Seems that sometimes the DHCP server will ignore the request if there is a previous IP assigned to the Modem.
