dexz,

good question, why don't you give that a try and let us know ;-)

SME Server 7 is ALPHA, so all feedback from tests and actions is very much welcomed.

Nope, sorry. Since it is ALPHA all is scattered around dev systems until a real BETA comes out.

Start with a clean install or do the upgrade.

You don't need to download the whole iso if you use rsync or zsync. Only the parts of the iso that have changed will be downloaded, which speeds up the download dramatically. There have been a number of recent posts re how to do this, search on rsync or zsync for the specific answer/command.

As far as upgrading from the seperate packages rather than from the full iso & CD, Gordon did post some info at the Sourceforge site about how to mount the iso (which you download (using rsync/zsync) or copy to the alpha you are upgrading from) and then running rpm -Fvh *.rpm
See if that works for you.

See these threads as the question and answers were scattered due to Sourceforge wrongly handling posts:

You don't need to download the whole iso if you use rsync or zsync.

Rsync works for me, but zsync seems to requiere a real http host, who offers the ISO file. ibiblio redirects the request to their own ftp host, which zsync cannot handle.

All other mirrors are ftp mirrors.

Has anybody found a solution or knows a host, with real http support for zsync?
