Printer quota on SME 6.0

Has anyone had much success with user printer quotas on a 6.0 server? I'd like to set this up in a non-profit educational setting where we can charge students for each page printed and block access to printers where necessary.

I've looked around for a while now and the only vaguely suitable software I've come across is Pykota, PrintQuota and Printbill but all three call for something beyond my limited Linux knowledge (Pykota requires downloading the source from CVS and compiling it, while PrintQuota also needs to be compiled). I've tried compiling PrintQuota, but that involves downloading all the development rpms and I'm making heavy weather of that.

Printbill wasn't happy with CUPS and I had to revert to LPRng but still couldn't get it up and running. Also this package doesn't seem to have been maintained for the last couple of years.

Is there anyone who has an rpm for either PyKota or PrintQuota or who is able to point me to a site that does? I'd appreciate any suggestions

Thanks

I'm having another attempt at Printbill, which will not install because it needs the libpng12.so.0 file. From what I can see, this PNG library is only available from RH 8.0 (all the RPM's I have found which provide this library are only available for RH versions 8 and up). Is there a way around this - can one install a RH 8.0 package on an SME server without causing any problems for the SME server?
