LDAP doesn't find one of my users
« on: January 20, 2000, 09:50:35 AM »
I have at least one user that OpenLDAP isn't returning the email address for.  Everyone else I have checked (I haven't checked everyone yet) I can fill in a partial name and the LDAP server will do the rest except for this one user.  The LDAP server doesn't return him based on his first or his last name.  He happens to be one of three Bills here so I tried searching for Bill and it returned the other two so I know it is working.

Any ideas?  Should I just remove him and recreate?

Doing a "save configuration" from the e-smith console interface will regenerate the LDAP database, which should hopefully fix this.

A warning though - doing this also clears out the DHCP leases, so if the e-smith server is providing DHCP services on your local network you'll need to release all your DHCP leases before saving the configuration, then renew them afterward. (This is being improved in e-smith 4.0.)

Best regards,

I tried that but it didn't work.  Is there a way for me to look at the LDAP databases so I can find out if the missing user is in it?  I found some files in /etc/ldap and in /var/ldap but none of them seemed to have a list of the users, unless they are stored in a binary format.
