SME 7 beta-1 takes 1 hour to boot
« on: August 22, 2005, 10:25:22 PM »
Hi,

My system boots extremely slow after installing SME 7 beta-1.

Booting from CDrom and installing the software is fast, but  booting takes 1 hour to complete, while alpha22 was running and booting normal.
When the system is finally up, everything seems to be normal.

Running top during the boot shows that two proccesses take all CPU: runsv 75% and runsvdir 25%.
When I run the boot process in interactive mode, and do not start syslog, booting takes the normal amount of time.
I installed SME 7 beta-1 as an upgrade of alpha22, and as clean install, but the result is the same.

Hardware: Dell 2800, 2x XEON 3.2, 2GB Ram, 1x 146 GB SCSI disk.

How do I find out what the problem is? I'm lost.
Rob
