- First things first: You should read some of the documentation on the design and setup of ESSG 4.1.2 and SME V5. Go check the link below for information of customizing your server:

- You should not be modifying the httpd.conf file directly (see above link on customizations) as those will be overwritten. BUT, I'm not sure why your server is "crashing" like this...sure doesn't seem right. When you say the services would not start up again - what services? Did you try restarting them manually? More info on this would be helpful so people here could help you.

- I'm sure there are several ways to handle this, but you might be more specific with what you are trying to do and why...that way people could try to provide instruction or other information.
