Web-based interface problem
« on: January 22, 2000, 08:26:43 PM »
I reinstalled me e-smith server and an odd problem happened,
My remote web-based interface is unaccessible through workstations' web browsers.
I can see e-smith server in Network neighbourhood,i can ping it and from it, I can connect to it, but the only way to administer it is through lynx.
Any solutions please

(the same problem for 3.1 and 4.0)

sounds to me like you might have 1 of a couple possible problems.

#1, your local network is plugged into the e-smith servers network card that is wants to use for connecting to the internet.

or

#2 for some reason your web browser isn't setup to see the internet on your local lan.  (ie, still set up to use a dial up connection) and is looking there when you put in the ip address for your e-smith server.

Those are the two I could come up with off the top of my head.  If neither of them work, please post more info about how your network is setup and maybe I (or someone else) can come up with an answer

e-smith is used in server mode/non gateway, I have special radio box forinternet access(aeronet), local PCs uses LAN non dial-up for internet access. All PCs use static IP addresses, server local adress is 192.168.87.100(if change to 192.168.87.1 the same story),server uses only one NIC.

I'm not familiar with aeronet but if it works like other Internet connectioin thingies do it's IP address would be setup as the default gateway on your workstations. I'm not sure, but what I think that means is that any time your web browser wants a connection it wants to go through the aeronet. (again, I'm just postulating).  If that is the problem, I don't know how to fix it off the top of my head.

I have no ideas, today when I came to the office everything worked well,
I have no ideas why from Friday to Sunday there was a problem.

Probably magic or little fairy elves or something.  :)
