Fetchmail problem

Fetchmail problem
« on: November 26, 2001, 01:56:49 PM »
I have a bit of a problem with my e-smith configuration.  Hope someone can help.

Everything else on the e-smith box works fine - other email accounts don't cause me any problems.

I'll fairly new to e-smith and linux, so please keep it simple!

I host a domain, say xxxx.co.uk, on a reseller account for my father's business.

My father accesses his mail, via POP, from pop.xxxx.co.uk at his office (akh@xxxx.co.uk).

My mother accesses her email from pop.xxxx.co.uk at home (hh@xxxx.co.uk).

I access my email (mrh@xxxx.co.uk) from pop.xxxx.co.uk via my e-smith box at home.

When I collect my email from pop.xxxx.co.uk I get:-

"Fetchmail-Warning: recipient address
mrh@xxxx.co.uk didn't match any local name".

My e-smith user name is also mrh.

If I created emsolutions.co.uk as a virtual domain, it would cure the problem - but it would mean that any mail I try and send to akh@xxxx.co.uk or hh@xxxx.co.uk would remain on the e-smith server - it would never reach the desired recipient.

Does this make any sense?

Does anyone have any ideas how I can receive email to mrh@xxxx.co.uk without creating an error message each time?

Thanks again,

Matt

Hi Matthew,

You could use the multi-pop add-on from Vincent (http://www.chez.com/vinc28/fetchmail.html) for this purpose. This add-on will let you collect pop / imap mail from up to 20 different e-mail accounts per user account on the server, irregardless of what the e-mail address is you are collecting from, as long as you have the correct username / password !
