Topic: Forum problem - read msgs not marked as read

I have an annoying problem with the forum in that any msgs I've read or marked as read do not retain the 'read' status next time I visit the forum. Is this status controlled by cookies on my pc or internal to the forum software? If the latter, how do I fix it?
