Try increasing the time between pop collections.

In case anyone else ever has this message I may have a clue as to why it sometimes happens...to my server anyway.

I had a barrage of emails from Cron with the same message

fetchmail: another foreground fetchmail is running at 13912.
fetchmail: another foreground fetchmail is running at 13912.
fetchmail: another foreground fetchmail is running at 13912.
fetchmail: another foreground fetchmail is running at 13912.
fetchmail: another foreground fetchmail is running at 13912.
fetchmail: another foreground fetchmail is running at 13912.
fetchmail: another foreground fetchmail is running at 13912.

every 5 minutes. I checked the pop mail account it was checking a lo and behold my ISP pop server was unavailable. As soon as the ISP server came back on line the emails stopped.

Cheers!
