Differences SME Up and SME Smp ?

I just loaded sme 6.0.1  on an old p200 to become familiar with it and to do some testing of some extra stuff I need installed before reloading my SME 5.6 machine. Im given 2 options at boot up ..   SME Up and SME Smp whats the difference ?
