Hello
I take a good look on the forum and couldn't find anything that could explain this.
I upgrade (as many of the people here recommended) from SME 5.6 to SME 6.0.1 because of the vulnerabilities.
All ok, it works very good, however, it's very slow transferring files in samba and FTP from the LAN side.
My hardware is:
Soyo 6BA4 with Pentium 2 350, 128 MB PC100
10 Giga Seagate Udma 66 HD
1x Nic 3Com905 TxC-NM (wan)
1x Nic 3Com905 TxB (lan)
In my previous configuration i configured the hdparm
to increase the speed of the hard disk, with:
hdparm -X66 -d1 -u1 -m16 -c3 /dev/hda
I took the information from this page:
http://www.linuxdevcenter.com/pub/a/linux/2000/06/29/hdparm.htmlrunning the tests -Tt gives me about 22 MB/sec HD transfer with is very good for my current setup.
now it seems that sme 6 has already this parameters set because when i ran the hdparm -Tt it reports
20 MB/sec HD speed, which still is very good.
but for some reason I have about 30% the LAN transfer speed that I had on the older 5.6 SME
any ideas why this could happen?
Is my hardware too small for this version of SME server?
maybe is not a hd issue, i don't know that's why i post this message
would it help if I add 256 MB extra ram?
anyone else has this problem too?
thanks a lot
