Topic: Passive FTP Problem

Hi,

I got a ftp, that's on port 2200.
I run proftpd, i changed the config file so everything is working locally, on port 2200 but from the internet I get an error like this:
500 illigal port command, I think I have to put somewhere in the config file that the server has a different set of ports to use, like 2199 till 2250.
But I don't now how and where to put it.
In the router I already forwarded port 2199 till 2250 to my ftp server.

Post your config file and someone may be able to help.  Curious why do you need to change the ftp port?  Can't you run on the standard 21?

I would guess that is because his isp blocks port 21. Many isps block certain common ports like 21 for ftp and http on port 80 to stop people from having web and ftp servers.

Are you sure that your isp isnt blocking the port you are trying to use since it works locally? Also have you double checked your ftp setting is set to allow access from outside your local network?

 I seem to remember seeing a how to somewhere on what to do to change your ftp port but I cant  seem to find it right now.
