Topic: TAPE BACK UP ABORTED

Still looking for help, PLEASE!

I have just installed a preferred Tape Backup and configured it for backup. I am getting the following messages:

FROM: Cron Daemon
SUBJECT: Cron /sbin/e-smith/backup
MESSAGE: Backup aborted: No tape loaded

There is a new and clean tape in the drive.

Anyone have any thoughts?

I have had this problem and found that if you have used a controller card that does not have its own BIOS on-board the tape is not detected by E-Smith.

I replaced the card that I had with another low end Adaptec PCI card with a BIOS and then reinstalled the system as it was a new install anyway.

Everything worked fine.
