Port Forwarding Issue on SME 6.0.1
« on: December 22, 2005, 03:49:17 PM »
I run a game server for Unreal Tournament on may lan and expose it to the world through my SME 6.0.1 server.  I have setup rules for port 9300, the web administration for my Unreal Tournament server, to point to 192.168.217.50 on my lan.  But, when I try to open it in a browser it doesn't work.  The url is http://tog.game-host.org:9300.

I have also been trying to figure out a way to forward all port 80 traffice to 192.168.217.51 but havent' been able to get that to work either.  It seems like it always want it to go to the SME Server.

Any Suggestions?

Thanks,

It works for me. Are you trying to test the portforwarding from inside your LAN? Won't work. Port forwarding can only work from outside connections.

Thanks, Charlie.  I had someone else test it from an external site and it is working.  Since I was using the external address I just assumed it would forward, but did realize that DNS is actually resolving it to the internal network.

Another Port Forwarding question:  I want to run a web server on a different machine, the project I am working on will eventually be moved to a machine that won't be an SME Server.  Can I forward all traffice on port 80 for a domain to a different machine?  Or is there a better way?

Thanks,

Proxy pass is a better way.
