is there a way to have the mp3z on the server being played thruogh the soundcard of the server, as opposed to the mp3z being accessed remotly??????????????
im very new to linux so as much detail as possible plz

Now, there's an interesting concept.  If the server in a small office were able to get an audio connection to an amplifier or public address system, all in the office could "remote control" the music.  It would also make it possible to use the server as a "music on hold" source for a PBX.

Anyone want to hazard a guess as to the difficulty of enabling control of a Linux mp3 player via CGI/Perl?  I have little experience with things at that level.

I am testing Headless Horseman PHP scripts from www.hotscripts.com and it seems to work (Needs a little work on the player side ) under standard Redhat 7.1

IT plays via the local sound card nicely.
You may like to look as it as a possibity.
