« on: January 14, 2006, 10:48:59 PM »
Hey

I just start whit SME 7, and all thing look yery nice.

I start whit are test.domane.com and now i want to move my domane.com over to my sme server.

But can i some who move all they old mail from the clients to the server? So i can have them i are folder or something like that under the webmail system for my domane.com.

I need to export the mails from the email klient. (Outlook and Opera) But i can not find are way to export all the mails and then store them on the server.

Is ther are way to do that, or are alle the mails just lost?

Add an extra email account to everyone's Outlook and configure it as IMAP with your SME as the mailserver.

Do this for each user and then drag their email across from the old folders to the new ones.

I have found that Outlook generally marks the email as 'unread' when it arrives in the new folder using this method. Just tell your users that their email will appear to be uread, and that they may send new read reciepts when they read their old mail.

Many, many thanks for the answer. It is good to now.

But is it so simple, as you write?? If is, then it is no problem to do

Yesss. It is  :-P

But there is user interaction required in that method. And you have to leave the old server open a little while  :-( .

We migrated mailboxes this way from SME6 to SME7 without any hassle.

Am I missing something?  I think I don't understand what you are currently doing.

Do you have the mail stored on the local pc or the server?

If it's the local pc then the suggestion from dhardy is the way to go.  If it's the server then just copy the mail folders over.
Smile :-)......
